Safety Recalls

Acura

MDX (2010)
A few hundred vehicles are being recalled because a bolt used to attach an interior trim piece to the driver's or passenger side A-pillar may not have been installed during manufacturing. In the event of a crash, the trim piece may not remain properly secured, increasing the risk of injury to the driver and passengers. Dealers will inspect the trim piece and install the bolt if it's missing. For information, call 888 327 4236.

Audi

Q5 (2009)
Volkswagen is recalling about 6,000 vehicles because the A-pillar trim cover clips may not have been manufactured correctly. This could cause the A-pillar trim to become loose when the sideguard head protection airbags deploy during a crash, and the loose trim piece could injure front seat occupants. Volkswagen will inspect the clips and replace them free of charge. VW campaign number 70D4/J6. For more information, call 888 327 4236. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V484000

Chevrolet

Corvette (2005-07)
Corvette Z06 (2005-06)

General Motors is recalling about 22,000 vehicles equipped with a removable roof because the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame may separate. The driver may notice a snapping noise over bumps, wind noise, a poor roof panel fit, roof panel movement or a water leak in the headliner. If the panel completely separates from the vehicle while in motion, it could strike another vehicle or cause property damage. The remedy is to install a new roof panel. For more information, call 888 327 4236. GM recall number 090230. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V491000

Equinox (2010)
Terrain (2010)

General Motors is recalling 59,000 vehicles because the software in the center instrument panel can cause the heating, air conditioning, defrost and radio controls to become inoperative. Dealers will replace the computer module free of charge. For information, call 888 327 4236. GM recall number 090298. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V489000

Chrysler

Sebring (2010)
More than 20,000 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles are being recalled because they may have been built with an improperly formed or missing brake booster input rod retaining clip. This could result in brake failure without warning. Chrysler will replace the retaining clip free of charge. For more information, call Chrysler at 800 853 1403. NHTSA Campaign No. 10V009000

Dodge

Avenger (2010)
Nitro (2010)
Ram (2009-10)

More than 20,000 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles are being recalled because they may have been built with an improperly formed or missing brake booster input rod retaining clip. This could result in brake failure without warning. Chrysler will replace the retaining clip free of charge. For more information, call Chrysler at 800 853 1403. NHTSA Campaign No. 10V009000

Honda

Ridgeline (2006-07)
More than 100,000 vehicles are being recalled because a wiring harness connector for the heating, ventilation and air condition blower motor may be vulnerable to damage from vehicle passengers. The motor is located under the instrument panel on the passenger side of the vehicle, and it could be kicked by front seat passengers. This could cause the connector terminal to overheat, which would cause the wire insulation or connector to melt. This increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect the unit and will replace the wiring connector of it's damaged. A protective cover will also be installed at no charge. For information, call Honda at 800 999 1009. The recall is expected to begin in March. NHTSA Campaign No. 10V001000

Hyundai

Azera (2006-09)
The wiring harness on the right front seat belt tension sensor may sustain damage after repeated seat belt use. If the sensor wiring is damaged, the air bag will not deploy in the event of an accident. This increases the risk of injury to an occupant. The recall is expected to begin in February for an estimated 65,000 vehicles. Hyundai owners may call 888 327 4236 for more information. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V497000

Jeep

Commander (2010)
Grand Cherokee (2010)
Liberty (2010)

More than 20,000 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles are being recalled because they may have been built with an improperly formed or missing brake booster input rod retaining clip. This could result in brake failure without warning. Chrysler will replace the retaining clip free of charge. For more information, call Chrysler at 800 853 1403. NHTSA Campaign No. 10V009000

Grand Cherokee (2010)
Chrysler is recalling about 3,000 vehicles because the passenger side airbag may not properly deploy through the instrument panel tear seam. This means the airbag may not properly protect a passenger in the event of a crash. The dealer will replace the top cover of the instrument panel free of charge. Chrysler recall number J33. For information, call 800 853 1403. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V454000

Land Rover

Range Rover (2010)
About 4,000 vehicles are being recalled for failing to comply with federal crash protection standards. Vehicles equipped with Occupant Classification System (OCS) may have an illuminated airbag warning lamp on the instrument cluster. When this light is on, the passenger airbag is disabled and will not protect the passenger in the event of a crash. (The "passenger airbag disabled" warning lamp in the overhead console will also illuminate.) The remedy is an updated control module. For information, call 800 452 4827. Land Rover recall number P020. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V467000

Mercedes-Benz

550 G-Class (2009)
Mercedes is recalling 350 vehicles because the fuel line quick connectors located under the vehicle may not have been connected properly on the assembly line. In the case of a frontal crash, the fuel pump would no longer function, but a partial dislocation of the fuel line could lead to a potential for fuel loss at the quick connector. This increases the fire risk. The dealer will check the connection and install a new clamp to ensure the line is secure. For information, call 800 367 6372. Mercedes recall number 2009110005. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V453000

Pontiac

Vibe (2009-10)
An unspecified number of vehicles are being recalled because of an issue with the friction level that interacts with the accelerator pedal. In certain conditions, the friction between the parts may increase, causing the pedal hard to depress, slower to return or partially stuck in an open position. General Motors has not yet announced a remedy or a recall schedule. For information, call GM at 800 620 7668. NHTSA Campaign No. 10V018000

Matrix (2009-10)
RAV4 (2009-10)
Sequoia (2008-10)
Tundra (2007-10)

An unspecified number of vehicles are being recalled because of an issue with the friction level that interacts with the accelerator pedal. In certain conditions, the friction between the parts may increase, causing the pedal hard to depress, slower to return or partially stuck in an open position. Corolla (2009-10)
Highlander (2008-10)
Matrix (2009-10)
Venza (2009-10)

Toyota is recalling more than a million vehicles, and this is an expansion of an October recall that involved 3.8 million vehicles. The issue is that the accelerator pedal can get stuck in the wide open position because of it being trapped by an unsecured or incompatible driver's side floor mat. A stuck open gas pedal may result in excessive vehicle speeds and may make it difficult to stop the vehicle. Toyota will modify or replace the accelerator pedals on affected vehicles. Floor surface modifications are also being considered. Initially, the dealers will be instructed on how to reshape the gas pedal. Once replacement parts are available, they will replace the pedals. Customers who have their pedal reshaped initially will be eligible for a new pedal later on. This is separate from the Jan. 21 recall involving 2.3 million vehicles. In that recall, the accelerator pedal may become stuck for reasons not related to the floor mat. For information, call Toyota at 800 331 4331 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 888 327 4236. NHTSA Campaign No. 10V023000

Volvo

XC60 (2010)
Volvo is recalling 5,000 vehicles because the fuel line rail cover that protects the fuel lines under the vehicle may not be properly attached. This could expose the lines to damage, which is an increased fire risk. Dealers will inspect the fuel line rail cover and reattach if necessary. For more information, call 800 458 1552. Volvo recall number R218. NHTSA Campaign No. 09V477000
